Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct

for members of the
Security analysis and Risk Management Association

SARMA Members Shall:

-- continually strive to increase respect, confidence, trust, and recognition of the profession in both the public and private sectors.

-- demonstrate a personal commitment to professionalism to include continuing education and training.

-- exhibit diligence in the performance of all duties.

-- eschew illegal, immoral, or unethical conduct, or any activity which would constitute a conflict of interest thereby bringing discredit upon SARMA.

-- exhibit the highest level of integrity in the performance of all professional assignments.

-- display the highest levels of professional competence.

-- not reveal or use information without proper authorization received in confidence during a professional assignment.

-- report all significant information obtained during the course of an assignment accurately and completely to proper authorities.

-- resist inappropriate pressures to modify or change analytical findings, conclusions, or recommendations.

-- continually strive to increase the professional competence and effectiveness of those serving under the member's direction and engage in an active mentorship program for the organization as a whole.

-- refrain from gratuitously making adverse comments about the work, knowledge, fitness, or other qualifying aspect of another SARMA member while truthful and candid in responding to requests for references or recommendations on other professionals.

-- promote and encourage full compliance with these standards within the entire profession.
