What is SARMA?

The Security Analysis and Risk Management Association (SARMA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit professional association serving those responsible for analyzing and managing security risks to systems, structures and operations from man-made threats. SARMA was created to provide a forum for the further development, standardization, and professionalization of the security analysis and risk management discipline. It is dedicated to providing leadership, education, and certification for security analysis and risk management professionals.

SARMA's goals are to:

1. Provide a forum for security analysis and risk management professionals to share information, ideas, and methodologies and collaborate to improve the development and application of the security analysis and risk management profession

2. Standardize the professional lexicon and generally accepted security and risk analysis principles for the benefit and use of all security professionals

3. Support the professional development of members through voluntary participation in meeting minimum professional standards, education and certification in security analysis and risk management

4. Advance the profession of security analysis and risk management, thereby creating quality opportunities for security analysts and risk management professionals

5. Educate and assist decision makers and security professionals in the effective use of security analysis techniques and risk management principles

6. Promote a more effective and efficient use of security analysis and risk management techniques to enhance national, homeland and economic security.

SARMA was incorporated in 2006 to promote the maturation and use of security analysis and risk management techniques. The association seeks to engage experts from diverse backgrounds in a variety of analytic disciplines to identify and socialize more consistent and uniform practices. The association is non-partisan and strives to represent the profession in a balanced and independent manner.
